River Normanton's monster spotted

Normanton's 'Loch Ness Monster' - another 8m monster crocodile?
David Murray From: The Sunday Mail (Qld) November 28, 2010 12:01AM
COULD this be Normanton's own "Loch Ness Monster", an elusive 8m giant that has residents in the Gulf thinking twice before taking out the tinnie? Rumours of a massive croc lurking near the township of Normanton have revived memories of the famed 8.6m monster shot in the Norman River in 1957, and claimed as a world record.Local pastor Elton Thompson sparked a frenzy last week when he produced photographs of a croc slide about 1km from town, which indicate the presence of a huge animal with a girth of up to 2m.Now fisherman Clint Spry has revealed photos he took of a huge croc in the Norman River with a tail "as long as my boat"."It had locked jaws with an albino crocodile and was just throwing it around like a rag doll," Mr Spry told The Sunday Mail."The tail on it alone was as long as my whole boat . . . 3.8 metres."
Pastor Thompson started a sensation when he put his photos of huge slide marks and claw prints on his Facebook page and relayed a story of a crocodile recently spotted at the same location that was "at least as big, if not bigger" than the legendary 8.6m Savannah King, that has a life-size replica in Normanton.Herbie Harold, 52, who found the original slide marks and alerted his pastor, said he had seen a massive croc in the same spot once before.

New Nessie sighting and Photo

Loch Ness monster: new pictures and sighting of Nessie
The legend of the Loch Ness monster is alive again after a mysterious shape was caught on camera.
By Shiona McCallum26 November 2010 10:57 GMT
The legend of Nessie has resurfaced with a new sighting and pictures of the Loch Ness monster.Richard Preston, a landscape gardener, has been the latest person to spot a mysterious shape that might be the Loch Ness monster and capture a series of images on camera. While working on Aldourie Castle gardens on the banks of the Loch Ness, 27-year-old Mr Preston spotted a shape on the loch's surface out of the corner of his eye.He told STV News: “I was just walking through the castle gardens and I spotted something in the distance. When I looked closer I could clearly see the four hump-like features. I thought I’d take a picture of it, to see if there was anything in it, to see what others thought.“I was surprised that it stayed there as long as it did. I took various shots of it before it suddenly disappeared. I literally just turned my back and it was gone.”He showed one of his friends who was also convinced there was certainly some mystery in the pictures. When asked whether or not he believed in the monster, Mr Preston said: “Well there’s definitely something in the myth. There were no ripples in the water, no boats, nothing around. I have no idea what it was, but it undoubtedly looks like Nessie.”The latest sighting has brought hope to monster enthusiasts, as it had been a relatively quiet spell for spotting any activity in the Loch. Fears had been mounting that Nessie might be dead since reports of any sightings had been diminishing. In July 1930, three people in a boat at the north end of the loch saw a 6m long hump-like shape travelling fast through the water. In April 1933, Aldie Mackay saw a violent disturbance in the water and a hump “like that of a whale” while driving along the north side of the loch.

Proof of China's wildman?

Local people think hair of unidentified creature could be from "Wild Man"
Source: Global Times November 23 2010
The Shennongjia Nature Reserve in Hubei province has examined a strand of hair which it has not managed to identify, prompting local people to speculate that it may belong to the "Wild Man" – China's own Bigfoot.Piao Jinlan, a researcher at the reserve, said that scientists need to continue their tests before they can identify the species. The hair is said to be thicker than human hair and thinner than horsetail hair, and the reserve posted a photo on its website on November 22.More than 400 people have claimed to have seen the half-man, half-ape "Wild Man" in the area in the last 100 years.Witnesses describe the creature as walking upright, more than 2 meters tall and with grey, red or black hair all over its body.An investigative team was set up in 2009 and started a large-scale search for the mysterious creature in Shennongjia this year.

The battle continues at Loch Ness

Monster battle is looming over rival Loch Ness tourism plans
Jacobite Discovery Project and existing attraction vie for approval
By mel fairhurst Published: 23/11/2010
Two businesses are going head to head in a monster battle for Loch Ness tourists.Highland Council’s planning committee will look at multimillion-pound plans for tourist centres on the banks of the most famous loch in the world. The plans include a £2.5million application for the Jacobite Discovery Project submitted by Jacobite Cruises and a £2million application from Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition at Drumnadrochit to develop its existing waterside facilities, 850 yards away beside the Clansman Hotel.Loch Ness cruise operator Jacobite Cruises announced plans in January for a new harbour, car park and visitor facilities on land each side of the loch-side A82 Inverness-Fort William road at Brackla. The venture promises to double the company’s 12-strong full-time Brackla workforce. It would cover 4.4 acres and incorporate 81 car parking spaces.Meanwhile, the family-run Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition is seeking approval for enhanced access, retail and catering facilities and parking. The plans include the Loch Ness and Caledonian Canal canoe trail and promise to create up to 40 peak-season jobs. The site to be developed by the centre is currently leased to Jacobite Cruises, which has announced its intention to vacate it for its new development.

Mystery highland beast

Beast spooks ghostbusters! By Stuart Taylor
Published:  11 November, 2010
A TEAM of ghostbusters have been left spooked by a mystery animal encounter near a Fort William sports field.Jim Morrison, his fiancé Heather MacLeod and Lynsey Dibsdale were conducting a paranormal investigation of Old Inverlochy Castle when they claim two "menacing" tail-less beasts ran across their path on a road leading to Black Parks on the banks of the River Lochy. The trio, who run their own investigations unit called USI Paranormal, are desperate to get to the bottom of the mystery meeting which happened in the early hours of last Monday.Jim, from Kinlochleven, told the Lochaber News: "We were doing an all-night investigation at Old Inverlochy Castle and also at the old and new cemeteries at Corpach."We were getting no results from either site in terms of any paranormal activity."Then at 3am, as we were walking along the road from the castle towards Inverlochy village, we saw two strange animals in the middle of the road."I actually only saw the first one, but Heather and Lynsey said there were two."They had the body of a greyhound, but were taller, no tail, muscular with very white eyes and a sheep-like face. They looked at us and then crossed the road going towards the river. We watched them and then it looked like they were coming towards us so we quickly made our way back to the castle."We didn't really want to hang around. They looked menacing.
Jim wonders whether the animals could be related to a recorded "Alien Big Cat" sighting in Glen Nevis nearly a decade ago.Two witnesses running in the area observed a three metre long "cat" drinking from the River Nevis. One of the women said it looked like a "tail-less tiger" with white eyes with no pupils. The local press reported the deaths of several sheep in Glen Nevis a few days after the sighting.

News of the cat-dog-mongoose cryptid, the Bhootbilli

Indian neighborhood terrorized by cat-dog-mongoose cryptid, the Bhootbilli

There's been a rash of sightings of a creature known as the Bhootbilli, or "ghost cat" in a neighborhood near Pune, India. This large feline cryptid has consumed 45 pigeons (and one goat) belonging to one unlucky resident. The sightings of the creature have been in the Sanjay Park neighborhood ~100 miles outside of Mumbai. From MiD DAY:
"The bhootbilli has been coming everyday the past 10 days around 7 pm. We had set up a lot of traps, but all turned into a flop show because whenever we would try to catch it, it would jump on the tree and sneak out somewhere," said Feroz Dilawar Khan, a driver and resident of the area. "It's fat and broad with a long tail, black in colour, has a face like a dog and back like a mongoose."    The bhootbilli, as it is called by the residents, has eaten around 45 pigeons and one goat within a span of 10 days which all belonged to Feroz.
